The Mind Gym

In the fitness world it is not uncommon to question the path that we have chosen for fitness. Fitness periodicals and the media are a big reason for fitness confusion.  In a prior post I compared fitness and the weather in Nebraska and how it is constantly changing.  How do we sort through all the fitness theories prescribed by the fitness gurus?  With fad diets and exercise programs constantly changing,  how do we avoid our biggest enemy… SELF DOUBT?

The path to fitness will have many bumps, detours, and possibly major accidents.  I truely believe that we have to be thankful for what we have.  I am a firm believer in avoiding negative,  self-defeating talk.  Have you ever been around a pessimist for any length of time?  The art of persuasion is very powerful and I avoid people that bring me down.  We are very susceptible to low self-esteem and feelings of guilt.  This is a major reason why many people fail to sticking with a fitness program.

Have you ever heard of the phrase “the game was over before it even started“? Do not let others determine your destiny.  I have personally witnessed family members, co-workers and even spouses trying to interfere with client’s progress by trying to cause feelings of self doubt.  Do not let yourself be defeated before you have even started.  Choose your friends wisely.  A good group of friends will be honest and supportive of your fitness goals. ”A goal that is not expressed to others is just a dream

The fitness journey is a very rewarding experience.  Never, never, never give up…every day is a new day and it begins by tying your shoes:)
