I’m a senior at Johnson County Central High School, and I’ve been training with Steve Auxier since I was a freshman. Right now I’m driving to Lincoln about three times a week to train with Steve. He knows how to push me to my limits and get the best out of me.

I’ve had a great time competing with Team Nitro. I also compete in basketball, track, softball, and volleyball (we made it to State this year!). It makes me sad to see some of the kids at my school not getting any activity. I’ve encouraged a couple of my friends to run track. Although I do some sitting around myself, it doesn’t take long until I realize I need to MOVE. Getting outside just makes me feel better and makes me have a better attitude. Sometimes I’ll go for a run on the weekend even though I practice sports every day after school as well as train with Steve.

My family is active, and I think that’s part of what makes me want to be. My dad teaches and coaches wrestling and football, and my mom works as a dietitian and is a faithful walker. Next year I’ll attend South Dakota University where I’ll play volleyball and major in education.

  • She’s set four American records in bench, squat, deadlift, and total weight.
  • As a freshman she was Women’s National Champion and High School National Champion
  • Last year, Kate was runner-up National High School Champion and set the National bench record!

Good luck to Kate in this weekend’s Regional Powerlifting Championships in Council Bluffs!
