Do You Have N-10sity?!?

by Steve Auxier on 04/10/2011

N-10sity!   Have you ever been a gym that had the same atmosphere as a church or a mortuary?  I sure have!  How are we supposed to stay motivated when everybody is walking around meditating?  I use the gym for a way to release all of my emotions and daily stresses!  Do you really have the intensity in your workouts to advance to the next level? Are your workouts really productive?  Do you leave the gym feeling that you really accomplished something?  Do your workouts turn into a social gossip hour?  Does your group fitness lack in energy and intensity?  Have you ever taken a group fitness class where the instructor talks about thier day during class ?   Have your workouts turned into another day at the pampering day spa? Do you even sweat during your workouts? Are you ever sore 1 or 2 days after your workouts?  Do you ever push yourself past your boundaries? Have you ever been nauseated from your cardio workout?  How about your weight routine?  Have your gym lifts hit a plateau?  Have your running times hit a plateau?  Is your bodyweight and bodyfat at a standstill? Has your physique stayed the same for years?   These are all common questions to think about when evaluating your workout program?  If you answered yes to one or more then keep reading on. You need to kick up the intensity!

N-10sity is the driving force that is needed to succeed in N-10sive Boot Camps and the weight room of Good Life Fitness!  Good Life Fitness has Lincoln’s #1 group x program with N-10sive KBX, N-10sive Fusion X, N-10sive Core- X, N-10sive F-I-R-E, and certified  personal trainers.

Why are we hesitating to step out of our comfort zone? Just because others are walking zombies does not mean you have to be. Remember you are only competing against yourself.  I personally talk to myself during my workouts and ask the following questions. (1) How’s my intensity? (2) Am I being true to myself? (3) Is my mind being the weakest muscle and causing me to wimp out?

Now my definition of intensity is not screaming and making a total a$$ out of yourself in the gym by throwing dumbbells and dropping weights, but on the flip side it not lifting the same weight week after week.  Now I know we might have off days, but I sure hope these are far and few between. Intensity comes from inside.  Intensity, just like fitness, has an open ended definition.  Intensity is pushing your body safely past a boundary that it has never accomplished before.  I believe that once consistency of technique on that given activity has been achieved, then next you must kick up the intensity!  When was the last time you pushed past the prescribed repetitions on your workout card?  If I wrote for you to do 10 have you ever squeezed out 3 extra repetitions? How about in boot camp… have you maxed the given repetitions that were prescribed or you finished the  workout in an shorter amount of time?

When I was powerlifting I made the most gains by digging down and grinding out those extra few reps!  This mindset is what makes a champion!  Do whatever it takes!  Keep in mind, this does not mean that you should try to bench 500# if you can not even bench 315!!  Be smart with your intensity!!

Remember that we are mortal and we only have “x” amount of time in this world.  Treat each and every workout as if it were your last workout!  We only have so many minutes in a day, so why waste them on a sub par effort! Train each and every rep like it could be your last!

I am a firm believer that ENTHUSIAM, and N-10sity is HIGHLY contagious!!  Surround yourself with the BEST PEOPLE that are your support team  to help you achieve your FITNESS dream:)
