With the warm weather approaching definately take advantage of the great outdoors!! I am really excited that Good Life Fitness is located next to some amazing outdoor trails!
Here is an amazing training program that can be done cycling or running. The format is 30 seconds of exertion followed by 20 seconds of active recovery. Studies show Tabata training to be an amazing fat burning training method!! Also for endurance athletes many of the top level athletes use Tabata training methods to improve performance.
Here is one of my favorite outdoor training methods that can be done on the trail or throughout your neighborhood.
For 20 minutes:
30 seconds sprint/jog super fast, fast cycling sprint
20 seconds active rest at a slower jog or walk, slow pedaling
Repeat this whole method for 20 minutes! The key on the 30 second interval is to really push your intensity level to it’s max. Take advantage of the 20 seconds of active recovery but do not stop moving…keep pumping the arms and bring the heart rate down.
A great goal for intensity with a scale of 1-10 is on the 30 second interval push the 8-10 level. For your active recovery phase decrease your intensity to 5-6.
Best of luck and enjoy the sunshine:)))
Steve
