Do women get big from lifting weights? The answer is NO!! I hear this question a lot from my female clients wanting to know if this can happen. I definitely understand this concern but I am here to tell ya this is FALSE! With having the pleasure to coach many National and World Champion females I have never witnessed their bodies looking more manly. All of my female powerlifters have a very feminine physique and all of them can squat close to 300#. I truely believe that women should lift heavier than the normal 3#-10# weights. Don’t worry about getting big and bulky like a guy. I always joke around that if you are growing a thicker beard than me then maybe you should avoid doing weights:)

I belief this misconception is from the body building world and watching She-Ra walking around on stage. The truth is that many of them are using Anabolic steroids. Here are a couple of facts that can help you have more confidence towards weight training.
- Women have 1/10 the testosterone than men.
- Lifting weights is very important for strong bones
- Lifting weights is very beneficial in reducing your chances of osteoporosis
- Lifting weights can greatly reduce cellulite
- Lifting weights is beneficial for increasing your metabolism
- Lifting heavier weights builds great confidence and prevents you from injury

After working out in Golds and YMCA gyms in Lincoln for years it is obvious to me the idea you are a bodybuilder just because you lift weights is ludicrous on the face of it.
