ONLY 5 days left till the big Thanksgiving dinner:)))))))) Oh boy I can’t wait to dig in the all of that food that I have been craving for months:)) I am a big fan of the cheat day to honor all of your hard work and also to reward you for achieving your fitness goals:) Keep in mind the holidays are tough time for so many to stay focused on their fitness journey. The national weight gain from October to January is 5-21lbs!!! To avoid a total derailment of your fitness journey try to avoid the top 5 holiday habits that will hinder your fitness success!!
1. Caloriecoccus (calories)- Yes caloriecoccus known as CALORIE is a virus that is spreading throughout the nation that is invading closets!! Yes this is a national epidemic to avoid and the scary thing is it only appears at night time when you are sleeping!!! This little virus is known to make your clothes tighter and make you feel uncomfortable over the holiday season:)) No worries, I have found the vaccine….yes it is called calorie burning through high intensity exercise (boot camp, hiit training, kickboxing, interval training, super sets, circuit training). Many people during the holiday season are putting the extra calories in their bodies and this is attributing to weight gain.
2. Alcohol- Many people consume more alcohol during the holiday season. Alcohol will bring your defense mechanisms down and you will find yourself grazing on the extra “caloriecoccus“:))
3. Skipped Workouts- During the holiday season your night time might be full of shopping, holiday parties, and you might be working more hours at work. NO EXCUSES!! I highly recommend packing your gym bag the night before and coming straight from work to the gym. If you are still struggling then I highly recommend the morning fitness. Studies show a 90% success rate for people that exercise first thing in the morning.
4. Sugar- I didn’t know if you knew this or not but sugar was developed by a drug dealer:) Yes sugar keeps you coming back for more!!! If you are like me sugar is your enemy and I find myself mindless eating all of the holiday goodies until the evidence is gone:) If you are a recovery heroin addict, you do not keep heroin on your counter tops:)) Out of site, out of mind:) Many people mention low energy during the holiday season. One main reason is to much sugar.
5. Blanket foods- If you live in cold weather climates you might find yourself seeking “blanket foods”!! Typically “blanket foods” contain high carbohydrates and high sodium!! Foods such as ham, lunch meat, soups, broth, frozen foods, sodium injected chicken and turkey. Yes sodium is the top 5 habits to avoid during the holiday season!! If you find yourself hitting a plateau on your weight loss try keeping a 3 day food log of sodium intake. I would make it a goal not to exceed 3500mg a day of sodium.
