About
Steve Auxier
I was interested in watching an individual push their body to the limits at a very young age. I have distinct memories of watching individuals lifting amazing amounts of weight on World Strong Man episodes or watching iron man triathlon and just thinking WOW! My older brother named me after Steve Austin the “bionic man” and I guess I was destined to constantly push the envelope of fitness with my body. Little would I know this would teach me one of the biggest lessons of my life. My first adventure into the weight room was at the age of 12 where my brother introduced me to the fundamentals of weight training and expressed the values of being consistent. The lessons from the weight room made a major impact in my life. I found direction, security, discipline, self esteem, and a consistent environment in which all of these lessons are important to me today.
My love of weight training quickly grew and like most, I wanted to be the strongest man in the world or to play in the NFL. With consistency and reading everything that I could get my hands on, I sorted through all of the theories and applied them to the sport of powerlifting. In a short period of 8 years my competitive nature lead me to my first World Powerlifting title setting 2 world records!
Many ask what my people ask what my philosophy of weight training is? I believe that our mind is like an envelope. If we do not open it then it will not work. I have come to the conclusion that I may not agree with everything every fitness guru suggests. But, at the same time I do not believe there is just one way for everyone, as in any other aspect of our lives. I am like a chameleon. If it is motivation the client is looking for then I provide it, if it is moral support, then I provide it, if it is designing out a program, then I provide it.
Our bodies are very sensitive in how we program them. I am always experimenting with nutrition and various workouts to see the outcome. This past year was definitely a learning experience and a major reality check! On January 26 competing in my last powerlifting meet I was hoping for a big day in the quest to set 5 Nebraska powerlifting records. On my last attempt of the squat, my life was changed forever rupturing 7 out of 8 quadricep tendons in both legs. With the mindset of being bullet proof and having great success in the powerlifting world, in a split second I found myself completely devastated and becoming a major burden to my family and friends. Having had the strength to a set a World record squat, I now found my only hope was to walk again and enjoy playing with my young children. The past 11 months have been a journey of experiences and has made me look at what is really important in my life. Nothing is for certain and I have learned not to take anything for granted! Our journey in this life can change for a reason in a split second.
Currently, I am exploring different realms of fitness. The true definition of fitness is obsolete. “Fitness” has so many meanings to people and I enjoy learning the different areas of becoming a well rounded health professional. I have discovered a type of training called “Crossfit”. Crossfit is currently the closest type of training that covers the whole spectrum of “fitness” This type of training focuses on strength, endurance, balance, stamina, cardiovascular conditioning, and most importantly self discipline. In the near future I will be training children in an injury prevention program to help reduce their risks of injury in their sport. I will also be traveling to learn the secrets of one of the top trainers in the fitness world Pat Etcheberry. Pat is the top trainer in the tennis world having trained Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi, Jim Courier, and many other top level athletes. I am excited to bring this diversity to my clients.
I am a spectator and love working with people and seeing them succeed. My mission in this life is to help people realize that their health is a priority and to educate the youth. Everything in this life depends on us being in good health and physical condition. Why is it not a priority to be as healthy as we can? I want people to act now! I do not want people to do everything in their power to fight a debilitating pain or disease once it comes upon them and place that burden on their family! Why not do everything in your power now to live and enjoy you’re your life!
